On Cramps Pt2

Electrolyte Cramps

In pt1 I talked about neurological cramps. The other instance I find myself having cramps is when I know I haven’t been taking care of my water intake and electrolytes. As an avid coffee drinker if I hit a certain threshold of caffeine for the day it will surely put my body in a state where I will way more likely to cramp.

Before last year, there were some nights where if I moved the wrong way while sleep I would wake up with some pretty intense cramping in the abdomen or the thigh.

Last year after the shut down I started a keto diet cycle with @robbwolf with his Keto Masterclass Program. One of the biggest tidbits I gained from the course was the use of electrolytes and I found I was seriously undershooting the amount that I would take in. Since then I have made it a daily practice to make my home brew mix of electrolytes with potassium, magnesium and salt.

These days I haven’t gotten the viscous night cramps, and if I watch my coffee water ratio I rarely get cramps other than the neurological cramps i discussed in the beginning.

Not into measuring and making your own homebrew there is a good product I also use specifically after training.

@LMNT and their different flavored salts has been one of my go-to when I need a quick electrolyte drink i.e. Multiple back to back BJJ classes, a long Kinstretch class or some time on my @Peleton.

Have you tried it? What’s your favorite flavor? Do you like with a decent amount of water or Salty AF?

I like mine on the salty side so put in less water.

I am glad to say I am now carrying LMNT in my clinic. Not sure which flavor try one of the sample packs. Don’t forget to grab a single the next time you come in for a clinic visit and soak.
