Things I have learned in the Carbon Coach App process of cutting weight.
As in my initial post about my weight loss. I lost about 20lbs in roughly around 3 months. This use of the Carbon app changed my perspective on not only how I ate but what the body needs to gain or lose weight. Over some of the next posts I will go over some perspective changes that have come up in the process.
#1. Calories matter, macros probably not as much
When using the app I was given a goal calorie limit for each day and macros that go along with those caloric metrics. When using the app the only real macro that was the most strictly abided by was protein intake. This was set to 1.1g per # of LBM. My understanding is that this was to mitigate loss of LBM during the cutting phase. The other macros revolved around the particular persons preferences. What I found to work best for me was a balanced approached with a slightly higher amount of Fat macros(probably because I had grown accustomed to Keto).
Throughout the process however, there were some days where maybe a had a little fattier cut of meat. This would lead to maybe going over my Fat macro, still it seemed that as long as I stayed within my caloric rate for the day my weight loss continued.
Other days I maybe went a little too light on fat which would allow me to add a little more carb that day. With the same idea being that at the end of the day I was still meeting the caloric rate for the day.
This was a really interesting thing to go through as there were times when I had some pretty interesting meals to make up for the calories that I needed to get in that day and would still continue to lose the weight as intended.
Everybody is different and for the most direct help it may prove useful to have a dietician walk you through the whole process, but if your willing to do a little more weighing and measuring Carbon could be a helpful tool.
