Session 1 : Opening the breath

Focus: Releasing the tissue surrounding the rib cage and lengthen the lower back.

Results: A sense of lightness and well-being, a more upright posture and fuller deeper breathing.

The story that I remember being told in school was that when the early practitioners began the series it actually started with the feet/lower leg. (session 2) For some reason there would be a sort of blockage or folks would not be able to take the work. Eventually folks were first taken through this first session working on the ribcage. Like in most practices of meditation we start with the breath. When folks were able to actually able to get air the rest of the work would be taken in better.

This session not only introduces new clients to the work but sets the stage for many of the future sessions. As a practitioner one of the things I notice when working on different clients is that there are some folks that find a way to breathe into the areas that are being worked on. I usually find that I am able to get lots more work done on these folks. This is one way how the client tends to be an active participant in the sessions. This is especially true into the later sessions.

This is also another example of how these series sessions are different than the typical relaxation/swedish style massage where clients are generally passive participants and the practitioner is doing everything

Thinking of starting a series? Check the tab for Structural Integration or check out the new patreon membership options if you are ready to start the series. I now have 60,90 and 120 min sessions for those who want to go through this reset series of sessions.
