Qi break

As I have mentioned in prior posts, my acupuncture and moxibustion treatments revolve around the use of a Japanese Style. Along with the use of direct moxibustion, smaller needles and abdominal diagnosis one of the things that may be different is the length of the treatment itself. In most cases, folks who have received Acupuncture in the past will generally get needled and then allowed to rest in the room unattended for the remainder of their appointment, usually 20-40 mins.

In the style of acupuncture I use, this is usually not needed. In most cases, depending on what clients are coming in for, once the needle has been put in the work is done. In these cases I use the rest of the treatment time to move on to more acupuncture on the back or in the case of musculoskeletal issues do bodywork to the affected areas.

In some cases, however, I still allow folks to rest with the needles. In most cases, once my initial treatment has been finished it has been my experience that some people will go into a state of relaxation.

In Covid world, this little 15-20 min break can be some much-needed self-care for folks who may not have the opportunity to just rest in their hectic lives. Parents who now have to juggle teleconferenced work as well as being there for their children. Folks who may have multiple roommates or don't have a private space to their own. In some cases just having a place where there is some self-care time can be very helpful to the body and mind.

My 90 min sessions allow folks to rest as well as having the time to receive some bodywork in much-needed areas. You can even see about getting some time in the Common Ground Wellness Coop Bathhouse to yourself after your session.
