Structural Integration Journey : Sessiono 5

Entering The Core ...Continued

Or

The Psoas Session

Focus: Adjust and lengthen the centerline, or core, that runs vertically through the body.

Results: Better balance and freedom of movement. Walking takes a fraction of the energy typically expended.

In the down and dirty basic version of the structural integration series, this session was usually synonymous with the greater focus on the work during this session in regards to the Ilio-Psoas complex of tissues.

In my practice in general the Psoas and all the structures that it works within the bioflow or connective tissue complex of the anterior and posterior hip is by far one of the tissues that will generally have some sort of finding in regards to hip or low back pain issues. This is not to say that if you have back pain there will be a problem in the psoas but my clinical experiences has rarely shown otherwise.

Through the years of doing series work, this session will also usually be one of the first sessions that I will start early preliminary work to the upper extremities. This will usually fall in one of the later sessions but as the psoas and anterior(front) thigh works do not take a great amount of time I usually have extra time to check out the above structures.

Common issues that may be helped in this session are:

knee pain( more focused to above the patella)

Hip pain

Pelvic Floor issues

Lower back pain

As I have stated in the past just because you may have the issues above it does not mean that the psoas and its friends may be the root cause. Assessment and treatment will vary with what is seen during the session.

Are you interested in going throught the series? Check out our patreon page for the different monthly packages and session lengths.

Not sure about a full series, the school of Structural Integration I trained in created the Somassage a ONe shot session meant to be a preview of how the body would potentially feel after a full series. Message me today for more information.
