Structural Integration Journey
The integrative Sessions + Arms
As I have stated in this series of posts the SI series can be split into 3 different sections. Session 1-3 were the sleeve, the outer layers of the body. In these sessions the client was introduced to this type of work. In most cases it may be worlds different from bodywork that they had received in the past. These sessions also prime the body in a way for the work that will be coming in later sessions.
In the second section, sessions 4-7 we work on the core of the body. In these sessions the practitioner goes into the deeper underlying tissues. From a Functional Range Systems perspective we really start to dig into these deeper capsular layers. For the most part this part of the series tries to chip away at any structural findings, breaking the body down as it were.
In the final section of the series the client is hopefully in a state where many chronic issues have been slowly worked on over the last 7 sessions. At this point they should feel markedly different in their meat suits. Movement should be freer, function should be improved and they will have a much better sense of their body. This final section starts the next phase that will fit the final pieces.
One thing I have strived to do in my work is to not only work on folks but also educate them on their body. While in my training these sessions where the freestyle part of the work and many practitioners will do the integrative portions differently. For me I have kept the basic path, working parts of the body in their respective sessions but I have started to add the other aspects of the FRS along with the work. In these sessions I start taking clients through the flow version of the Kinstretch class. Along with the manual work in these sessions the client will be taken through a one on one training to familiarize how to keep the work that has been done over these 11 sessions in the state where it is once the series is done. For those who take this training to heart it will also serve as a jumpoff point to build even more resilience into the body for all future endeavours.
It is my hope that folks will not “need“ to come see me on a routine basis. I am here to help those along their path to health. As a very busy practitioner myself it has been a long while since I received bodywork myself. I feel the training that I have done with FRC and Kinstretch has been a big piece in allowing me to stay at the current resilient state and continue to build capacity in my body as well.
In the last few posts I will break down the integrative sessions a little more.
